Wall Street opens lower as jobs data adds to rate hike concerns


The main indices of wall street opened lower on Friday as stronger-than-expected jobs data amplified investor concerns about a further hike in interest rates by the Federal Reserve to curb rising prices.

At the open, the Industrial Average dow jones it fell 224.09 points, or 0.68%, to 32,773.88 units; the index S&P 500 it lost 18.70 points, or 0.45%, to settle at 4,128.17 units; and the Nasdaq Compositee was down 70.86 points, or 0.58%, to 12,246.83 points.

After the opening, the main Wall Street indices deepened their fall.
