Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office confirms the arrest of José Manuel del Río Virgen, technical secretary of the Senate Court

Before the arrest of José Manuel del Río Virgen, the president of the Senate Political Coordination Board, Ricardo Monreal, assured that it is an action “far from the principle of legality.”

Last June 4, René Tovar, a candidate for mayor of Cazones de Herrera, Veracruz by Movimiento Ciudadano, was attacked at his home by armed individuals.

Still alive, Tovar was taken by members of his campaign team to a hospital in Poza Rica, where he died minutes later.
