At around 11 am, members of the Vancouver Police Department’s emergency response team rushed to Killarney Secondary in the 6400-block of Killarney Street after reports of an armed person on the premises.

The school was placed on lockdown as police conducted a room-by-room search.

No injuries have been reported to police.

The incident ended about an hour later as police lifted a lockdown following the search. A suspect has not been found, said police, and the investigation continues.

Thursday’s incident comes a day after the approximately 2,000 students in the southeast Vancouver school were evacuated after bear spray was set off in the building.

Police believed two other students from another Vancouver school had entered the school Wednesday morning with the attempt of assaulting a male student.

The pair tried to assault him, then deployed the bear spray before fleeing.

Two dozen students and staff inhaled the noxious fumes. Some were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police have identified the two people believed to be responsible.

It is not yet known whether the two incidents are linked.
