One of the Vancouver Police ‘Top 6’ gang members who pose a threat to public safety has been arrested.

Ekene Anigbo, 22, was arrested Thursday in Richmond by members of the Organized Crime section of the Vancouver Police Department.

Anigbo, who is associated with the Kang / Red Scorpion group, was one of six gangsters that VPD publicly denounced in May due to the significant risk to public safety they posed.

At the time of his arrest, Anigbo had a rifle, pistol and ammunition in his possession, Const said. Tania Visintin in a written statement.

On Friday, Anigbo was charged with four new firearms offenses. He is also wanted on multiple warrants throughout BC for assault and violation of probation.

He remains in custody pending his next appearance in Vancouver provincial court on October 14.

Anigbo’s arrest was the result of VPD’s Taskforce Threshold, which was launched in May in response to escalating gang violence in Metro Vancouver.
