Designed in a way that favors “discretion,” according to the brand, the boutique features geometric painted wood floors and marble accents and rich colors, combined with luxurious upholstered details on the walls.

Expansion plans have been on the cards for the brand in Vancouver since before 2020, according to Chokachi. But the arrival of the pandemic provided the luxury brand with an opportunity to push further expansion and overhaul.

“We saw an opportunity to accelerate renovation in Vancouver to strengthen our position as we came out of the pandemic,” says Chokachi.

Gucci operates a store-to-store boutique on Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, but the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver location is its only stand-alone store. According to Chokachi, the opportunity to renovate the retail location while increasing its presence in the city was a big draw.

“This store is our only directly operated store in Vancouver, a city rich in history, culture and commerce, and it will continue to be a key piece of our larger Canadian strategy,” he says.
