Guadalajara, Jalisco. During the month of February 2022, the production value of the construction industry in Jalisco was located at 1,758 million pesos, according to the analysis of data from the National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (inegi), prepared by the Institute of Statistical and Geographical Information (IIEG) of the state.
Although this figure is 36.7% higher than in February 2021, when the value of the construction sector production reached 1,286 million pesos, this figure is the fifth lowest for a month of February since this survey began in 2006.
Based on original figures at constant prices, in February 2022 the production of the construction industry in the entity increased 4.3% compared to the immediately previous month.
Likewise, the average behavior of the last 12 months rose for the eighth consecutive month, going from 1,491 million constant pesos in January 2022 to 1,531 million constant pesos in February of the same year.
During February 2022, Jalisco concentrated 7.6% of the total production value of the construction industry in the country, placing this state entity in fourth place nationally, below the State of Mexico, Tabasco and Nuevo León.

According to the president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) local, Carlos del Río Madrigal, the rise in the price of energy and supplies in general, complicates the outlook for the construction industry in the state.
“In one year, we have had a 20% increase in general in construction materials; reality is sky high. Even the workforce, with the adjustments that were made at the beginning of the year, we have had an increase of 8%”, commented the leader of the construction leadership in the entity.
According to the business leader, the price of steel has increased up to 120% from 2019 to date, which mainly affects the building industry; meanwhile, the increase in fuels mainly affects urban public works.
