US lower house launches investigation into Trump’s handling of White House records


A panel of the House of Representatives from U.S investigates former president’s handling of White House records donald trumpafter 15 boxes of official documents were recovered from his private Florida property in what lawmakers said was possibly a serious violation of the law.

The chair of the House oversight panel, Carolyn Maloneysaid Thursday that she is “deeply concerned” that the records were not quickly turned over to National Archives when Trump’s term ended in January 2021 “and who appear to have been removed from the White House in violation of the Presidential Records Act“.

Maloney said he is also concerned about recent media reports that Trump “repeatedly attempted to destroy presidential records, which could constitute additional serious violations” of the law.

Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
