Union members at SAQ approve deal in principle – Montreal | The Canadian News

The agreement in principle reached between the SAQ and the union of employees of its distribution centers was accepted in a proportion of 86.3% during the union meetings held in the last hours, the two parties announced this Saturday.

“We are very happy! We have returned the letters of nobility to our jobs within this state corporation,” said Joël Latour, president of the SAQ Workers’ Union, in a press release.

According to the union, working conditions, starting wages and wages across all pay scales have improved.

Union members eventually signed a six-year contract that provides for pay increases of around 3% per year, according to the union affiliated with the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Employees also agreed to a new “work arrangement” that will allow stores to open on Saturdays and Sundays.

In a press release, the President and CEO of SAQ, Catherine Dagenais, affirms that the ratification of the agreement allows “to look forward and above all, to continue with the replenishment of our branches and our partners. business”.

According to the SAQ, it will take “a few weeks” for stocks in all 400 stores to return to normal.
