Alberta Prime Minister Jason Kenney is one step closer to an initial leadership review now that more than a quarter of United Conservative Party (UCP) voters’ associations are requesting one.
In a letter to PCU president Ryan Becker, 22 of the party’s constituency presidents said they had passed motions demanding a special general meeting in the next three months to conduct a review of Kenney’s leadership.
According to the letter, published publicly on Monday, party statutes require more than a quarter of voters’ associations to activate early review.
The UCP constituency presidents will meet Monday morning to discuss their next steps.
