Two women members of the Poniente Cartel are sentenced to 29 and 31 years in prison

The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) obtained a conviction of 31 and 29 years in prison against Neri or Nery Cristina Ríos Valdivia and Aurora Rodríguez Montoya, for the crimes of organized crime, against health, carrying a firearm and possession of cartridges for exclusive use of the Armed forces.

Both people, according to the Specialized Prosecutor for Organized Crime (Femdo), belonged to the criminal organization called “Cartel del Poniente”, “Cartel de La Laguna”, “Los Danys” or “Torreón, Gómez y Lerdo”.

Its main activity was the commission of crimes against health, aggravated kidnapping, homicides, robberies and theft of vehicles.

In August 2013 an arrest warrant was issued against him, which was completed on September 7 of that same year. They were held in the Northwest Federal Women’s Center “Nayarit”.

On November 15, 2019, a conviction was issued, which was reversed by the Second Unitary Court of the Eighth Circuit, in order to ratify various expert evidence.

Subsequently, a conviction was again issued in the following terms: for Neri or Nery Cristina Ríos Valdivia, 31 years, six months and three days in prison, plus 3,812 days fine for crimes of organized crime (against health), against health in the modality of possession for commercial purposes, carrying a firearm and possession of cartridges for firearms for exclusive use by the Army, Navy and Air Forcea.

For Aurora “R”, the penalty of 25 years, 9 months and 3,549 days was issued for the crimes of organized crime (against health), carrying firearms for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy and Air Force and against health in the mode of commerce for sale purposes.
