One multiple accident has caused two fatalities on the AP-2 motorway in Castelldans (Les Garrigues, Lleida) this morning and forces to cut the via both ways, as reported by the Mossos d’Esquadra. More than 20 vehicles have been involved in the accident, including some trucks.
The intense fog that is registered in the area could have been the trigger for the accident, sources of the firefighters have indicated, since the poor visibility may have prevented the vehicles from braking in time. Everything indicates that there was a crashed vehicle on the road and the other drivers have not been able to avoid it.
The fatal accident occurred shortly before five in the morning and, four hours later, the AP-2 was still completely cut off.

The accident occurred between kilometer 155 and 157. Deviations have been made through exit 8 (L’Albi) towards Lleida and exit 5 (Soses) towards Barcelona. The Mossos have called for extreme caution in the area due to the presence of intense fog.
