Toronto to see sunny skies this week along with the warmest day of the year so far, expert says

Toronto will see clear skies and warm weather this week, according to meteorologist Daniel Liota.

Environment Canada forecast Toronto will see sunny skies from Monday to Friday, and temperatures in the city could rise above 20 C starting on Tuesday. Environment Canada also predicts a high of 25 C on Thursday, the warmest day of the year so far.

“When I get some time, I’m really looking forward to getting out enjoying the sun,” Liota said. “Maybe start some gardening.”

The average temperature taken at Pearson Airport at this time of year is about 17 C, Liota said. He said the warmer-than-average weather this week was a normal part of the highs and lows of Toronto’s spring weather patterns.

Liota also said parts of the city near Lake Ontario would be notably chillier.

“Lake Ontario is still a little bit cool coming off of this winter,” Liota said. “There will be a big difference if you’re downtown or by the water, compared to up north in New Market or in the York Region.”

Liota said the sun would be strong throughout the week and Environment Canada predicts a “very high” UV ray index on Monday.

“While it lasts, it’s going to be the nicest stretch of weather we’ve had so far this spring,” Liota said.

“Get out, enjoy and don’t forget the sunscreen.”
