Toronto to Provide Fourth COVID-19 Vaccines to Residents of City-Run Long-Term Care Homes – Toronto | The Canadian News

The city of Toronto says it will begin administering the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible long-term care residents in city-run homes.

The shots will begin firing Thursday, beginning with 131 residents at True Davidson Acres on the far east side.

Several more clinics will operate this week to administer doses to one of the most vulnerable populations in the city.

Eligible residents include any long-term care resident who received a third vaccination at least three months, or 84 days ago.

“With this highly communicable variant of COVID-19, it is imperative that the city do everything possible to help protect the residents in our long-term care homes as much as possible,” said Toronto Mayor John Tory.

“We are working at the speed of war to deliver a fourth dose of the vaccine to LTC residents along with health and safety measures implemented by city personnel.”

City officials said that to date, 92 percent of eligible residents in the 10 city-operated homes have received three doses.
