Toronto Public Library to Temporarily Close 44 Branches Due to COVID-Related Staff Shortage – Toronto | The Canadian News

The Toronto Public Library says it will temporarily close 44 branches due to staff shortages related to COVID-19.

The library says the closures will go into effect next Monday and that staff at those branches will be reassigned to locations that are still open.

It says 52 of the library’s largest and most widely used branches will remain in operation.

The library says active branches will still be limited to 50 percent of their capacity, and other COVID-19 measures, such as mandatory masking, remain in effect.

It says that some in-person services have been limited or modified to ensure the safety of staff and clients.

The story continues below the ad.

Other services, including home and mobile library services, will continue at their current service levels.
