Toronto Man Faces Street Racing Charges After Flying From Quinte West OPP – Kingston | The Canadian News

A Toronto man faces a long list of charges, including fleeing by police, following an incident in Quinte West on December 28.

Quinte West OPP says its officers attempted to make a traffic stop on 401 after witnessing a speeding vehicle. Instead of stopping, the vehicle started up and reached speeds of more than 170 kilometers per hour.

Police say an investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen. They later caught up with the driver in the vicinity of Belleville after he abandoned the car. Police found the man hiding behind a tree near where the car was parked.

Matthew Corbin, 26, of Toronto faces six separate charges, including running away by an officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving while suspended, theft of a vehicle, breach of commitment and driving a vehicle.

He was detained on bail and appeared in court on December 29.
