Toronto, GTA under heat warning ahead of mid-30 C weather

Toronto and the GTA are under a heat warning ahead of what is expected to be the warmest temperatures of 2022.

Environment Canada is calling it a “two-day heat event” for Tuesday through Wednesday, with temperatures expected to reach the low to mid-30s C.

Halton-Peel, York-Durham, Dufferin-Innisfil, Waterloo-Wellington and the City of Hamilton are among the regions under the same heat warning.

“Temperatures [on] Tuesday night and Wednesday night in the low twenties (degrees Celsius) will provide little relief from the heat,” Canada’s weather agency says.

“The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.”

Tuesday, in particular, will be balmy in Toronto, with temperatures expected around the 33 C mark. Environment Canada says it will feel more like 39 C.
