Tianguis Turístico de Mérida broke all records of previous editions

Mérida, Yuc.- The Tianguis Turístico de México held in the city of Mérida, Yucatán, managed to break all the records established in previous editions, with 1,635 buyers against the previous record achieved in the 42nd edition of 2017 that summoned 1,608.

The Secretary of Tourism of the federal government, Miguel Torruco Marques, reported that 1,017 companies were summoned, which also exceeded the 2017 figures.

43 countries also attended, which were attended by 3,492 exhibitors from 936 companies, beating the previous Acapuco 2019 record, attended by 3,408 bidders and 851 companies.

The number of appointments was 57,287, without considering those that were made directly, which also surpassed the 2019 mark, when 47,378 appointments were registered.

Preliminary sales figures, with only reports from 17% of the attending companies, amounted to 598 million pesos.

The most popular tourist products were nature tourism in 58%, cultural tourism with 57%, gastronomic tourism 55%, adventure tourism 50%, sun and beach 41% and romance tourism 37%.

The most requested destination

Torruco Marqués assured that this is product of the tourism policy of the current administration focused on the integration, regionalization and classification of a product that responds to the tastes and expectations of the tourist.

The official also stated that according to the survey carried out by the Sectur, Cancun led with 28% of the preferences as the most requested destination during the 45th edition of the Tourist Tianguis of Mexico, followed by Riviera maya with 18% and Mérida with 16% in third place, with which three destinations in the area lead the preferences at the national and international level.

At this point, the secretary highlighted that the third place for Yucatan also coincides with the number that the entity occupies at the national level in the volume of investments in tourism as of October 2021, only below Nayarit and Baja California.

The fourth place in most requested destinations during the Tianguis is a tie for Los Cabos and Mexico City with 15%; Acapulco in fifth place with 14%, as well as Oaxaca and Puerto Vallarta with 13% in sixth place, Pueblos Mágicos with 11% in seventh place and Guadalajara with 10% in eighth place.
