Kenny Blues Boss Wayne: A couple of decades back, America’s loss was Canada’s gain as son-of-a-preacher Wayne made a permanent home in Kelowna, BC He injects his smooth yet robust piano playing and cool and soulful vocals into a canon of original tunes and perfect covers. “Gospel was the first ingredient of this gumbo, then I started venturing down different avenues,” says Wayne, who cites Duke Ellington and Cal Tjader as influences. “Ray Charles could do it all so well, and soulfully. I also credit my dad for instilling in me, that, if you are going to do something, be successful at it.” Dave Babcock, Dan Davis, Yuji Ihara, Russell Jackson and Joey Dimarco accompany the Blues Boss.

missae 8: In the eighth installation of the annual Missae series, Pro Coro Canada revisits the Latin mass text through musical settings by Frank Martin and Ugis Praulins. The choir will perform two of their favorites by these composers: Mass for Double Choir by Martin, and Missa Rigensis by former composer-in-residence and Grammy-nominated Praulins. A part of the performance will be directed by emerging artist conductor Jessie Pierpont. The rehearsal already online promises serious beauty.
