Threat triggers Ford City school lockdown

A threat received Wednesday morning at Ford City Public School resulted in a brief lockdown for students and staff as police were called in to investigate.

Officers were dispatched to the school in the 4100 block of Milloy Street shortly before 11 am After investigating the matter, police determined there was no threat to public safety and the lockdown was lifted after about 35 minutes.

The Windsor Police Service said later Wednesday the investigation remains active but no further information was available.

A spokesperson for the Greater Essex County District School Board said the threat received by the school Wednesday morning “could have potentially impacted the safety and well-being of students and staff.”

Parents were notified in a school message that school staff had contacted police and that a lockdown had been imposed. Students were kept inside for the remainder of the day.

Police said the investigation determined the threat was not credible.
