President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated the three years of his government this December 1 with a special message at an event in the Zócalo of Mexico City.

“As in the best of times we are concentrating again in this democratic Zócalo of the capital, today we have been in government for three years and we are on our feet despite the pandemic, which has caused us so much pain and which precipitated the economic crisis caused by the neoliberalism, we have resisted adversity and we continue to advance in the transformation of public life in Mexico, “said the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador this afternoon.

It is the first massive political meeting that the federal president has held in the capital’s Zócalo since the Covid-19 pandemic arrived in the country.

From very early on, supporters of President López Obrador came to the center of the capital from various parts of the country to hear the message on the occasion of his third year in office.

As part of the celebration in the capital’s Zócalo, various musical presentations were held to entertain attendees.

The stage that was located outside the National Palace received first the Mariachi from the Secretariat of National Defense, who at 4:30 p.m. played various traditional Mexican pieces.

Later, the President’s supporters enjoyed the presentation of the Philharmonic Band of Ocotlán, Oaxaca, as well as Byron Barranco and Frino and Gorrión Serrano.

Before President López Obrador offered his message, the singer María Inés Ochoa performed some popular songs for the attendees.

At 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, President López Obrador arrived at the Plaza de la Constitución to greet his supporters.

Among flags, banners and umbrellas, the attendees, most with face masks, received the federal president and his wife Beatriz Gutierrez Müller on stage.

López Obrador said that very soon Mexico will emerge from the economic crisis and the country will not go into debt as happened in other nations.

During his speech, the President highlighted the progress to control the Covid-19 pandemic in the country that has claimed the lives of more than 290,000 people according to official figures. “Controlling the pandemic is allowing us to return to our original four-point plan to improve health services,” he said.

The chief executive highlighted the cultural strength of the Mexican people to emerge from the “calamities” that have occurred in recent years.

Next year, he said, “if everything goes well we will have the (Mexican) Patria vaccine” against Covid-19. And he highlighted the progress of the federal government in the implementation of the vaccination plan against the coronavirus.

He insisted that as the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the basic education institutions have reopened their doors and resumed face-to-face classes.

In his speech lasting more than an hour and a half, López Obrador also said that the economic crisis derived from the pandemic, which caused a contraction of the Gross Domestic Product of 8.5% in 2020, is close to fully recovering.

“I have no doubt that soon, very soon we will finish coming out of the economic crisis (…) We do not get into debt as happened in other countries, we did not drop revenue collection,” said the president.

The President highlighted as economic strengths of Mexico, the increase in remittances from the United States, the growth potential in the agricultural sector, the increase in the tourist influx and the advantage of the Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC ) to attract foreign investment.

He also highlighted that his administration has achieved savings of 1 trillion 400,000 million pesos from the fight against corruption and austerity.

The President took the opportunity to call the population to participate in the exercise of revocation of the mandate.

López Obrador assured that it is governed for the people, because “that’s how democracy is … What would our government be without the support of the people? Long live the people of Mexico! “
