They will give pension to ex-workers of Luz y Fuerza

The federal government announced the implementation of the “Special Compensation Program for Social Justice for Former Workers of Luz y Fuerza del Centro”, with which it intends to provide a pension of between 3,000 and 67,000 pesos per month to some 8,892 former workers of the extinct company who did not accept its liquidation in 2009.

The program will be operated by the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People (Indep) with a budget of 1,458.6 million pesos that will be contributed by that institute.

During the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the director of Indep, Ernesto Prieto Ortega, said that “the government of the Republic considers it to be elementary justice to establish this Special Compensation Program for Social Justice for Former Workers of the extinct Luz y Fuerza del Center, which responds to a legitimate social demand to guarantee compensation to all those former workers who as of October 11, 2009 had at least 19 years, six months and one day of service time”.

Requirements

He explained that within the requirements for former workers to be able to enter this program is that they withdraw before the Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Board from all present and future lawsuits against Luz y Fuerza, the Ministry of Energy, the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People and Light and force.

They must submit an application with specified documentation on the Institute’s Internet portal. They will then be notified by mail if their application is accepted.

“Former workers with a legal opinion of origin, withdrawal of the trial and formalized agreement will be incorporated into the program and the special payroll process. The time it will take to meet your goal will be approximately four to six months,” he explained.

Ernesto Prieto Ortega said that the compensation will be according to the years worked, and ranges from a minimum of 3,200 pesos to a maximum of 67,000 pesos, with an average of 12,500 pesos per month.

The official said that with this program, the liquidation of Luz y Fuerza del Centro will be released from 2,118 labor lawsuits with a contingent liability of 5,892 million pesos, but also a social lawsuit originated by a decision to extinguish the company in 2009 will be resolved.
