Olga Sánchez Cordero called to prevent setbacks in terms of gender parity in Mexico and asked whoever is entitled to do so to file an action of unconstitutionality against the Parity Law recently enacted in Nuevo León before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). .

“Now, we are already in a Legislature of gender parity in the Senate of the Republic. Yes, but we just had a publication in Nuevo León, a few days ago, that parity in Nuevo León is going backwards. We can not allow that”.

When participating in the virtual discussion “Breaking the glass ceiling: opportunities for girls and women”, organized by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Senators, its president affirmed that the “attack” against women is “permanent”.

Unfortunately, she explained, she does not have the power to present the aforementioned appeal because the upper house is not a legitimate entity, so she asked the political parties, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and the Federal Executive’s Legal Department to do so.
