They investigate three mobiles after the murder of a deputy

The local deputy of the PVEM in Colima, Roberto Chapula de la Mora, was attacked with gunshots outside his home, which caused his death. A neighbor who was passing by at the time was injured, and later died at a hospital.

In the La Popular neighborhood of the municipality of Colima, near the Hidalgo park, two men approached the local deputy on Monday night, and one of them shot him, said Gustavo Joya Cervera, spokesman for the State Coordination Table for the Construction of Peace and Security in Colima.

He maintained that the attack against the deputy was a direct aggression. “You see two people in the images, one who acts directly and who is the aggressor, and who leaves the place running together with another person to the south of Hidalgo Park,” he said.

He explained that 12 .9-millimeter shell casings were found at the scene, as well as a bag with a pistol presumably owned by the local legislator, which was not fired. Gustavo Joya said he did not know if the deputy had permission to carry it.

In what he described as “collateral damage”, he mentioned that a man who was passing by was injured, for which he was taken to a hospital where he later lost his life.

Gustavo Joya Cervera indicated that so far there have been no detainees for this crime.

He said that the Attorney General of the State of Colima already integrates all the test data into the investigation folder, including video recordings that allow knowing the mechanics of the event.

He stressed that as a motive for the murder, the investigation will include possible retaliation against Roberto Chapula for his political-legislative activity, as a private lawyer, and also for an event in which he was involved last year when he was reported to have shot at a young man in the same neighborhood where he lived.
