They create a menu inspired by performing arts at Priceless with Estoril

Santa Fe, CDMX.- Mexico City was selected as the third metropolis in the world to host a Priceless restaurant, in addition to Rome in Italy and Sao Paulo in Brazil, which have opened their doors based on the lifestyle of consumers. Mexico is known worldwide for its art and culture, thus Priceless with Estoril was born: a tribute to contemporary arts through gastronomy.

The Mastercard restaurant opened its doors in partnership with El Estoril, one of the most renowned gastronomic houses at the local level, and with the association of The Metropolitan Theater Awards (Los Metro), the most important institution focused on the performing arts.

The first plays that have a menu at Estoril are: La Tía Mariela, Novecento and Pillowman.

In the voice of the Chef

Chef Betty Vázquez, ambassador of Mexican cuisine in the world and judge on the MasterChef México program, was the creator of the menus for La Tía Mariela and Novecento, and spoke with El Economista from her restaurant El Delfín, which is located in San Blas Nayarit.

“La Tía Mariela was a joy with the colloquial nature of a play, enjoying the moment, enjoying the music, enjoying the classic regionalism in the southeast of the country, in Yucatan, but the most beautiful thing is that you can be transported to any country, to any state, to any city, because it is a very normal context of families, of towns, of families that respect gossip, comedy and imagine myself in the context in which I was going to be.

“I know the Southeast very well and I began to investigate what the menu would be like, thinking of telling a story, because in the end at the meal you tell your story and transfer the feelings,” he said.

“I selected typical products such as: octopus, plantain, habanero chili and others that allowed me to pay homage to the work, food speaks, it has emotions and ways of expressing itself,” he concluded.

La Tía Mariela, inspiration and comedy

Aunt Mariela is a comedy nominated for Los Metro that explores the female universe, celebrating family memories and women’s lives.

The Sweet Goodbye: Meringues with melipona honey, green papaya and chaya sorbet.

The Secret: Octopus carpaccio with achiote, sour orange and green apple dressing.

La Ofrenda: Hairless pork with lime butter, with creamy rice with pumpkin seeds and plantains.
