They allocate almost 400 million pesos for governor campaigns


A bag of 831 million 879,042 pesos will be distributed this year, for public financing, among the national and local political parties that will contend on June 5 to renew the governorships of Aguascalientes, Durango, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo.

For the six gubernatorial campaigns, 378.6 million pesos will be allocated; It should be clarified that in Durango, 39 municipal presidencies, 39 unions and 327 councilors will also be disputed, and in Quintana Roo the local Congress will also be at stake, made up of 15 relative majority deputies and 10 proportional representation.

Aguascalientes

Of the 95.9 million pesos allocated to the parties in Aguascalientes for fiscal year 2022, 60.3 million pesos must be used for ordinary activities, and 30.7 million pesos for gubernatorial campaign expenses.

Five women will compete for the governorship of Aguascalientes, although only two have a real chance of victory: Teresa Jiménez, candidate of the Go for Aguascalientes coalition, made up of the PAN-PRI-PRD, and Nora Ruvalcaba, standard-bearer for Morena.

The cap on campaign spending in that state was set at 23.3 million pesos.

Durango

To cover ordinary, specific and campaign expenses, in Durango the parties will have 125.7 million pesos.

The governor’s campaign expenses may not exceed 63.5 million pesos per candidate and the financing for campaign expenses in general amounts to 40.9 million pesos, an amount to be distributed among the parties with official registration.

The leading candidates are Esteban Villegas, nominated by the PRI-PAN-PRD, and Marina Vitela, from the alliance formed by Morena-PVEM-PT.

Hidalgo and Oaxaca

In Hidalgo, 118.1 million pesos will be distributed among all parties. The gubernatorial campaign spending cap is 47.2 million pesos. The dispute is between the morenista candidate Julio Menchaca and the PRI candidate Carolina Viggiano.

Public financing in Oaxaca amounts to 269.7 million pesos, an amount of which 88.1 million pesos were allocated to cover campaign expenses and of these, half was set as the maximum limit for the election of governor.

The main candidates, out of five, are Salomón Jara, nominated by Morena-PT-PVEM and the local PUP party, and the PRI candidate Alejandro Avilés; there was no alliance and PRI and PAN will face each other at the polls for the governorship due to the impossibility of forming an alliance.

By concept of public financing for ordinary and permanent activities, the five parties with registration in the state (PAN, PRI, PT, MC and Morena) will have this year a total of 173.4 million pesos; the cap on campaign spending is 147.3 million pesos.

César Verástegui Ostos and Américo Villarreal are the leading candidates, from the PAN-PRI-PRD and Morena-PVEM-PT coalitions, respectively.

For the election of governor and local deputies, the nine parties with national and local registration were assigned 48.8 million pesos and the campaign spending cap for the governorship was set at 19 million pesos.
