The United Kingdom orders the extradition of Karime Macías: FGR

The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) announced this Tuesday afternoon that the British State Department ordered the extradition of Karime Macías Tubilla, ex-wife of the ex-governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte.

“The State Department of Great Britain has just ordered the extradition of Karime “M”, ratifying the resolution of the British court that heard the case. This person has fourteen days to challenge that determination,” the FGR detailed in a brief announcement released. on his Twitter account.

It should be remembered that in mid-February of this year, the FGR said that he won in the first instance in England the trial to extradite Macías, who said in turn that he would challenge that resolution.

Karime Macias faces an accusation in Mexico for his possible involvement in a fraud against the Veracruz government for more than 112 million pesos.

Javier Duarte’s ex-wife lives at number 10 Wilbraham Place, in Belgrave, one of the most exclusive areas of London. Macias’ apartment is located just one kilometer from Buckingham Palace. Her children attend Eaton Square School, one of the oldest British schools.

At the beginning of the current Federal Government in 2019, the FGR began the extradition procedure for Macías, for which the British authorities imposed precautionary measures on him consisting of a location bracelet, the periodic signature in a London police station, and the impediment of approaching maritime, land and air stations, while the corresponding trial unfolds.
