The stars of the Montreal Electric Show

Here are the models expected at the Montreal Electric Show.

Fiat 500e

Fiat is taking advantage of its visit to the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show to unveil its 500th. Although this model maintains a similar appearance to the previous model, it is longer, wider and taller. It is also based on a completely different architecture. A 42 kWh battery powers an electric motor equivalent to 117 hp and 142 lb-ft of torque. Fiat estimates that its city car, sold for $39,995 to $44,995 (before applicable subsidies), will be able to travel 240 km on a full charge.

Fisker Ocean

Fisker relies heavily on the Ocean to keep his head above water. Offered starting at $45,995, this SUV has three versions in its catalog: Sport, Extreme and Ultra. Depending on the configuration (80 kWh or 113 kWh battery) and drive mode (one or two motors), the Ocean offers a range that can vary from 372 km to 579 km. Built in Graz in a carbon-neutral factory, the Ocean prides itself on using more than 200 kg of recycled materials and having developed an innovative panoramic roof. This incorporates solar panels which, in optimal sunny conditions, increase the autonomy of this vehicle.

Polestar 3

The brand’s first SUV, the Polestar 3 (starting at $95,900) is being produced in the United States, where it will share the Volvo EX90 assembly line. These two vehicles use the same technical architecture (code name SPA2). There are two electric motors whose power varies, depending on the version, from 489 hp to 517 hp. These are powered by a 111 kWh battery, which allows a range of around 500 km and a recharging time of 30 minutes on a 250 kW fast terminal.

New, really? Come a little closer. This sedan retains the features of the previous version, but look at it less and look at it better. Almost all body panels bear the seal of novelty. The differences with the “old” model will undoubtedly become more obvious once on board. The presentation remains as minimalist as ever, but the materials used are of much better quality. Just like the seats, more comfortable, including in the rear. Dynamically, the suspensions have been reworked to better filter out road imperfections. Range is also on the rise and this gain is mainly attributable to greater aerodynamic efficiency.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Many consumers will rediscover the red cheeks of their childhood when they encounter the ID for the first time. Buzz. Reincarnation of a model that appeared in the 1950s, this Volkswagen will hit its wheels in showrooms at the end of this year. Capable of accommodating up to seven people on board, the ID. Buzz counts on a 91 kWh battery to move it over a distance of some 400 km, according to initial estimates. In Canada, the buyer will have to choose the configuration (five or seven seats) and the drive mode (propulsion or all-wheel drive). Prices have still not been communicated.

Volkswagen ID.7

The temptation is great to qualify the ID.7 as an electrified version of the defunct Arteon. Like the latter, the ID.7 has a five-door body, but it is based on a modular architecture (code name MEB) similar to those of the current ID.4 and the future ID. Buzz. When it launches at the end of summer, the ID.7 will first be offered with a 77 kWh battery. This will power a motor which will direct its power to the rear wheels only (propulsion). A higher density battery (86 kWh) and a four-wheel drive mode (which requires two motors) will be added to the catalog in the coming months.

Volvo EX30

Volvo EX30

The little Volvo has very big ambitions in Canada, and more particularly in Quebec, where it will begin its career in a few weeks. This fully electric and extremely compact model gives the impression of being expressly designed for the city where, it is true, it makes sparks. Able to compete with renowned sports cars between two red lights (0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds), the EX30 is no longer afraid of fast lanes or long journeys. In its basic configuration (rear-wheel drive and one engine), the small Volvo has a range of 442 km. About fifteen kilometers more than the four-wheel drive version with two engines.
