The PQ will not spare its efforts for the riding of Rimouski

The Parti Québécois (PQ) wants to preserve the riding of Rimouski it has held since 1994 for the next provincial elections, as evidenced by the visit Friday of its leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon.

This is what he clearly made known during his visit.

“We want to send a signal of strength because it is a riding for which we will spare no effort, no resources, we will do everything to have an independentist deputy”, launched Paul St-Pierre Plamondon in a press briefing.

The party will launch a nomination in the coming weeks to find the next candidate. Current MP and former Parti Québécois Harold Lebel announced last week that he will not stand for re-election because of his sexual assault trial.

According to the party executive, two people have already shown interest in the constituency.

“There are people interested, the activists are there, the members are there, the funding is gone, we are a healthy party in Rimouski,” explained the president of the executive of the Parti Québécois in Rimouski.

The leader of the party is aware of the polls which are at their lowest, but believes that anything is possible in politics.

“I started the leadership race at 5% or 3%, I could have chosen to drop it, the same way the mayor of Quebec started his race at 1%, anything can happen, the polls c It’s really a very short-term picture,” said Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon.

The riding of Rimouski is highly coveted by the various parties. The executives are currently working to find the candidate who will be able to convince the voters of the region.

The latest polls have confirmed that the fight between the PQ and the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) will be tight.
