The ISE in Barcelona, the largest audiovisual show, is postponed until May

La feria del sector audiovisual Integrated Systems Europe (WHEREAS), which was to be held from February 1 to 4 in Barcelona, has been postponed until next month mayo. Specifically until the 10th to 13th of that month due to “growing impact of the omicron variant in Spain“In a statement, the event’s executive director, Mike Blackman, said: “While we are looking forward to meeting with everyone at ISE 2022, after listening to our exhibitors, owners and stakeholders, we have agreed that the best we can do is postpone the edition of the fair for three months.”

The ISE, which used to be held in Amsterdam (Netherlands), held its first edition in Barcelona in 2021, but it had to be held and premiered in a smaller format adapted to the pandemic. Instead of the four days scheduled in the Catalan capital, from June 1 to 4, the pandemic forced organizers to break down the meeting to reduce mobility. The congress was finally held at the Fira de Barcelona on June 1 and 2; in Munich on June 8 and 9; in Amsterdam on the 16th and 17th and in London on the 23rd and 24th of the same month. Now, with everything ready to hold an edition more in line with what was planned before the pandemic, the fair is once again forced to alter its plans.

The announcement of this audiovisual fair comes the day after GSMA, the organizing company of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), will reaffirm that it will hold a face-to-face edition, as planned, between February 28 and March 3, unless the authorities request changes. In 2021 it had to be held between June 28 and July 1, instead of at the beginning of the year as usual, also as a result of the pandemic. The fair had to be suspended in 2020, after some of the main exhibitors withdrew. As a consequence, the mobile fair maintains its contract with the Fira de Barcelona until 2024, one more year than planned to compensate for the suspension in 2020.
