During a session of the General Council, the presiding counselor of the electoral body, Lorenzo Córdova, described as worrying that the Budget Commission of the Chamber of Deputies has approved an opinion that cuts 4.913 million pesos from the INE budget.

By order of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), the General Council of the INE approved a new modification to the guidelines for the revocation of mandate in order to allow the collection of citizen support signatures through paper throughout the country. and through a mobile application.
The counselor Lorenzo Córdova argued that initially the INE contemplated in the guidelines that they allowed to collect signatures on paper only in 204 highly marginalized municipalities, with the purpose of speeding up the validation of signatures.
“That determination was not capricious or arbitrary, it was a determination with technical and operational support, reaching that decision implied an exercise and analysis that considered previous experiences with the use of the application that sought to optimize the established times,” he said.
For this reason, he announced that the TEPJF ordinance implies a change in the calendar of the Mandate Revocation consultation, so it passes from Sunday, March 27, as originally planned, to Sunday, April 10, 2022.
Lorenzo Córdova said that the INE will respect the decision made by the Chamber of Deputies on the budget of the electoral body for 2022, although he asked the legislators to understand that this institute requires the resources to carry out the consultation.
