The Green Bay Packers Schedule Is Out, And It’s A Doozy

After a week of hints, leaks and hints, the 2022 NFL schedule was finally released in its entirety on Thursday night. And there will be plenty of challenges for a Green Bay Packers team that has been an NFL-best 39-10 in at least three regular seasons.

The Packers face the last two Super Bowl champions: Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles Rams. Green Bay has a three-game road trip from Week 7-9. And six-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick, considered the greatest of all time, brings his New England Patriots to the hallowed Lambeau Field.

Here are some of the highlights from the Packers’ schedule:

• Green Bay will open on the highway for the fourth year in a row. Last season, the Packers were crushed by New Orleans, 38-3, in a game played in Jacksonville.

• Green Bay hosts Chicago in its first home game. This is the 23rd time the Packers have faced the Bears for their home opener. Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur is 6-0 against the Bears since he took over in 2019.

• The Packers travel to Tampa Bay to face seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady in Week 3. Brady and the Buccaneers won the 2020 NFC Championship Game in Green Bay, 31-26, then they won 55the Super Bowl two weeks later.

• Green Bay hosts New England and six-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick in Week 4. The Patriots have come to Green Bay twice under Belichick, winning 35-0 in 2006 and losing 26- 21 in 2014.

• The Packers face the New York Giants in London in Week 5. Green Bay doesn’t have a bye week before or after their long trip, but they do have home games in Weeks 4 and 6.

• The Packers will play three straight road games between Weeks 7 and 9. That’s only the third time this century that’s happened (2012 and 2016).

The main matchup comes in Week 8, when Green Bay travels to Buffalo to face the Bills, who are considered by many to be the favorites in the AFC. The Packers are also in Washington in Week 7 and in Detroit in Week 9.

• Green Bay hosts Dallas and former coach Mike McCarthy in Week 10. McCarthy, who led the Packers to a Super Bowl title in the 2010 season, was fired with four games remaining in 2018.

McCarthy sat out the 2019 season and has coached Dallas the past two seasons. Since McCarthy was fired, the Packers became the first team in league history to win at least 13 games for three straight seasons. However, Green Bay is just 2-3 in the postseason at that point.

• Green Bay hosts Tennessee on a Thursday night in Week 11. Both teams were the No. 1 seeds in their respective conferences last year and both teams lost their first playoff game. The game will be listed on Amazon.

• The Packers will play the defending Super Bowl champion Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 15. Last season, Green Bay defeated Los Angeles, 36-28, at Lambeau Field.

• Green Bay will be busy over the holidays, traveling to Miami on Christmas Day in week 16 and hosting Minnesota on New Year’s Day in week 17.

• The Packers have a bye in Week 14, then will play three of their last four games at home. Considering the weather usually turns nasty in Green Bay in December and January, the Packers love being home at the end of the season.
