The governments we deserve?

My father and I did not live in the same political colors when I was young. Most of the time I railed against the party he had helped to elect and he replied that we have the governments we deserve.

If he were still alive, I don’t know if he would be as enthusiastic about the “reds”. However, we could have a good discussion about the governments we deserve.

The wish of the minority

Recent polls predict a victory for the CAQ in the next general election with 80% of the seats in the National Assembly and a popular vote below 50%.

For several decades, our governments have been the fruit of a minority of the population.

We should change the adage and say that we have governments that the majority of the world does not deserve.

The glaring discrepancy between the weight of voters and the number of seats that can be won in the next general election in Quebec is reigniting the debate on the reform of the voting system.

Why does it take a dreaded catastrophe to consider transforming our voting system?

Keep his word

The denial of the word given to establish a compensatory proportional voting system and the lies of Minister LeBel, claiming that the CAQ government kept its promise by presenting a bill, should be enough to make us doubt their good faith.

Despite everything, the Prime Minister continues to have the confidence of a sufficient number of Quebecers to crush any opposition.

However, its contribution will remain highly questionable both on a nationalist and environmental level. I fear that a re-election of the CAQ will distance us forever from the emancipation of the Quebec people.

It’s my daughter Marie-Hélène’s birthday today. I wish her very well. We do not have the same political colors, I hope in spite of that that it will eventually know a multi-colored government deserved for the majority of the population!
