The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Friday that the Council of Ministers next Tuesday will approve the new Law of Science, Technology and Innovationa text that includes measures to promote R&D&i, reduce precariousness and bet on the incorporation of women decisively in these areas.

Sánchez has made this announcement at the event ‘STEAM Alliance for female talent. Girls standing for Science’, held at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which takes place this Friday.

The president explained that among the main objectives of the new regulation is “reducing the precariousness” suffered by some Spanish scientists, approving a new postdoctoral itinerary, incorporating more rights for young people, “redefining the research contract” to attract “prestigious researchers” and “reduce the administrative burden” suffered by many of the people who work in this field.

The law seeks that scientists are not “condemned to precariousness, have decent contracts, that attract talent“, he summarized. He also pointed out that the rule will incorporate measures to facilitate conciliation and that the evaluation committees are made up of a minimum of 40% women.
