The ‘former minister’ of Health of the Generalitat and current first vice-president of the Parliament, Alba VergesIt will be the ERC candidate for mayor of Igualada (Barcelona) in the 2023 elections, as reported by the party this Monday.
The current spokesman for ERC Igualada, Enric Conill, will be number 2 on the list, provided that the party’s militancy approves the decision in an assembly scheduled for the coming weeks.
ERC was the second party with the most votes in the May 2019 elections, with five councillors, only behind Junts (9 councillors) and ahead of the PSC (4), CUP (2) and Cs (1).

In a letter to the militancy, Vergés and Conill have assured that their challenge is for the municipality “to once again be a motor city and protagonist of the future”. They have explained that they want to “star in the change of municipal government to transform Igualada” after 11 years as mayor of the current team, led by Marc Castells.
Vergés, a graduate in Economics and computer engineering, was born in Igualada in 1978 and has been president of the local section of ERC.
