The boss of Lightspeed presents his meditation room in a mobile version

A fervent fan of meditation, techno entrepreneur Dax Dasilva has just built a mobile version of the meditation room he has in his Montreal home in order to share his passion for this activity with as many people as possible.

Designed in a 53-foot double trailer, and extendable on each side, the mobile version of Dax Dasilva’s meditation room will be accessible to the general public in the coming days.

The interior of the trailer was arranged as a 1,000 square foot immersive space with a tunnel leading to a black hole projection chamber. Two antechambers – for waiting and exit – have been fitted out. Stars and galaxies, for example, will be projected onto the indoor course.

“We are all fascinated by the cosmos. We just have to think about what we just experienced with the eclipse,” says Dax Dasilva.

The trailer will be demonstrated for the very first time at the C2 Montreal conference which will take place from May 21 to 23 at the Grand Quai of the Port of Montreal.

The focal point of the immersive experience is the black hole.

The founder and big boss of the fintech Montreal-based Lightspeed explains that entering the trailer will allow you to visit a mobile exhibition combining the wonders of nature and the cosmos with meditative reflection.

The central point of this immersive experience remains the black hole, says Dax Dasilva in an interview.

An artistic installation

The concept began to take shape after Dax Dasilva commissioned an artist to create a black hole room for his home in Montreal.

Content and software developed over the past five years to enhance the meditation room at his residence were used for the mobile version.

“It’s nice to have people over, but I wanted more people to be able to see the results of our investments in time, technology and art, because at the end of the day, this is an art installation », says the 47-year-old entrepreneur.

He explains that the room in his residence was created with the help of a dozen Montreal artists. He says he notably called on companies like Moment Factory for the design of visual effects.

Dax Dasilva says he practices meditation “several times a week.”

It’s good for mental health. At my house you can spend hours trying things using different types of music. It is a way of experiencing the unknown and the mystery. It’s a very effective meditation tool that I want to share with people.

Meditation helps you achieve balance and put things into perspective, he says.

“When you’re feeling stressed, being able to go somewhere completely different and feel transported to another place is beneficial. The black hole makes this easier. We feel afterwards that we have gotten rid of part of the burden, the stress or the darkness that we may feel in our daily lives. It helps to clarify our ideas for better decision-making. »

Dax Dasilva believes that meditation brings serenity and calm to his days, in addition to helping him become a better person and relieving him of the pressure that his professional responsibilities can cause at times.

“Clearing your thoughts is easier said than done. Sometimes you need tools in this modern world of overstimulation with 24/7 news and social media,” he says.

The trailer will travel to festivals and urban centers across North America later this year.

“The Black Hole Experience” is presented by Age of Union, the environmental alliance launched by Dax Dasilva in 2021 to protect endangered species and ecosystems.
