The Automotive Cluster is strengthened in the Center of Coahuila: Miguel Ángel Riquelme

Monterey, NL. Irish electronic components company APTIV announced an investment of 14.7 million dollars, with the creation of more than 3,200 jobs in the city of Frontera, Coahuila, which strengthens the Automotive Cluster in the center of the state, said the governor, Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís.

He asserted that the heads of Economy and Labor will coordinate with the State Education Secretariat so that through educational subsystems such as Conalep, the Center for Scientific Studies (Cecytec) and the College of Bachelors of Coahuila (COBAC), they prepare to have qualified and professional workforce that demands APTIV.

The Conalep of the municipality of Frontera has several specialties such as Technical Professional in Mechatronics, Bachelor in Maintenance of Automated Systems and Technical Bachelor in Computer Science.

In turn, Cecytec has technical careers in Automotive Maintenance, Autotronics (branch of engineering in which knowledge is applied to the automotive sector), Mechatronics and Electromechanics, as well as Alternative Energy Sources.

The Irish capital company will manufacture electronic harnesses for the automotive industry.

The state president gave his full support to the secretaries so that, together with the municipal authorities of the entire Central Region, they encourage workers to be highly trained to perform their duties.

He pointed out that the geographical location of Frontera-Monclova, in the Central Region of the entity, will facilitate the mobility of its products.

For his part, the president of Latin America of APTIV, Arturo Álvarez, recognized the support given by the state and municipal authorities for the location of the company in the entity.

Aptiv arrived in the state of Coahuila in 1995. It currently has 30 plants in eight states, two Engineering Centers and a workforce of 80,000 workers. In Coahuila it has three factories and a Technical Center in Saltillo; in Nuevo León, plants are located in the municipalities of Linares, Guadalupe and Guadalupe Satélite.

In Baja California (1 plant), in Sinaloa (2), Chihuahua (8) and a Technical Center in Ciudad Juárez; in Durango (3) and in Tamaulipas (5), according to company data.

It is a high-tech company that integrates safer, greener and more connected solutions for the automotive sector, said Arturo Álvarez.

Its operations in Mexico carry out 300 new product launches and ship 11.7 billion parts worldwide. Globally, it has 127 manufacturing plants, 12 Technology Centers, presence in 46 countries with more than 190,000 jobs.

The director stressed that they are certain of achieving success in this new plant because they will have the qualified workforce necessary for the production of harnesses demanded by the automotive industry.

They bring production from the United States

It is worth mentioning that on June 3, the American company John Deere, manufacturer of agricultural machinery Deere & Co., announced that it is going to move the production of cabins for tractors, from Waterloo, Iowa to the plant located in Ramos Arizpe.

It is expected to complete its transfer by 2024, which will generate jobs for the Southeast Region of Coahuila.
