Local beer makers set to do battle in Masters of the Brewniverse

A fierce battle is brewing for bragging rights, popularity—and the power.

Local beer makers are set to square off this weekend in a fight for the title of Master of the Brewniverse.

The event will showcase special one-off recipes that eight local brewers each created for the competition.

The battle begins Saturday with two sessions at Windsor Eats at 400 Erie St. E., Suite 3. The first session runs from 12 to 4 pm The second session takes place from 6 to 10 pm The winners will be announced following the second sitting.

Two awards are up for grabs. The People’s Choice award will be decided by votes from festivalgoers. A panel of judges will choose who is crowned Master of the Brewniverse.

Participating breweries include GL Heritage Brewing Co.; The Grove Brewing Company; Walkerville Brewery; Chapter Two Brewing; Banded Goose Brewing; Top Dog Brewing Co.; Craft Heads Brewing Company; and The Beerded Dog/Jakes Brew Windsor

“This event will be a great opportunity for the brewers to jump back on their pilot systems and experiment with new recipes,” said Dwayne Grondin, co-owner and brewer at GL Heritage. “It creates a feeling of excitement and anticipation of new beers for all of our followers. Having all the local breweries participate in this event only grows our region’s reputation of a solid craft beer destination.”

Session one tickets are $47. The second session is $50. Each ticket comes with 16 beer samples.
