Temperatures on the rise for the whole week

The mercury will be comfortably on the rise with temperatures above seasonal norms throughout the week for several areas, particularly in southern Quebec.

The thaw will persist until the weekend, but with mostly overcast skies and periods of snow showers.

Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures for Monday ranging between -7 and -2 degrees for Estrie and the Beauce and Bas-Saint-Laurent sectors.

In Montreal and its surroundings as well as areas of the St. Lawrence River valley, the weather will generally be cloudy, while temperatures will vary between -4 and -2 degrees.

In Quebec and Mauricie, there will be intermittent snow with a mercury of -6 degrees, according to forecasts from the federal agency.

Light snow is forecast for Abitibi and the western sectors of the province, with accumulations of 2 to 4 centimeters, while temperatures will be mild.

The same weather conditions will also prevail in areas further north, such as Saguenay and the North Shore.

On the other hand, the federal agency issued a special weather bulletin for the sectors of the Gaspé Peninsula where a winter storm is expected for the middle of the week.
