Mounties announced in a Sunday news release a 14-year-old is facing four counts of uttering threats and two counts of mischief. The youth, whose name cannot legally be publicized because of Canadian laws protecting minors, was released from custody and is due in Leduc provincial court on July 22.

Ecole Leduc Jr. High School and Leduc Composite High School were closed on Friday. Classes and all other activities, like sports and field trips, were canceled. The district is expected to give an update at 6 pm Sunday on whether or not classes will proceed on Monday.

Although other area schools remained open, attendance dropped by about 40 per cent, Bill Romanchuk, Black Gold School Division superintendent, said on Friday.
