Four hundred actors, actresses, musicians, models, sportswomen or stars of social networks in increasingly extravagant outfits hurried, Monday evening, September 13, to the gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met), in New York, after two years and a half of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Almost no one was masked, but you had to be vaccinated or test negative … and pay $ 35,000 for your entry fee.
Sharon Stone, Justin Bieber, Venus Williams, Gigi Hadid, Diane Kruger, Erykah Badu, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Taylor Hill, Hailey Rhode Baldwin, Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean and even… Isabelle Huppert: the Met hadn’t seen so many world stars since May 2019.
“Tax the Rich”
Among the most noticed personalities at this charity event, organized each year for the benefit of the Costume Institute, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, figure of the left wing of the Democratic Party, displayed on her dress “Tax the Rich”, the mantra of the campaign Democrat Bernie Sanders, of whom she is a staunch supporter. “The message is the medium”, she wrote on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, sharing a photo of herself with dress designer Aurora James.

In France, the columnist Klaire fait Grr did not fail to divert the slogan to Twitter :
Listen, I find it rather successful. https://t.co/c7sRZhtggT
In a radically different style, star billionaire Kim Kardashian arrived fully covered in black, face included, in an outfit that looked enigmatic and chilling.
Again, the opportunity was too good for Internet users, who did not hesitate to hijack her look, comparing her in particular to a monstrous alien beast in a message retweeted more than 10,000 times.

“In Gay We Trust”
For her part, LGBT activist and football champion Mega Rapinoe has also played the political card, taking advantage of the platform offered to divert the American national currency “In God We Trust” into “In Gay We Trust”.
More exuberant, singer Lil Nas X, also known to be one of the few American rappers to publicly assume his homosexuality, did not hesitate to break the codes either, sporting an all-metallic outfit, painted nails and made-up eyes.
But the prize for the most surprising outfit undoubtedly goes to the German singer Kim Petras, decked out in a funny horse head with blue eyes and with a mark in the head in the shape of a heart.
The 2020 edition of the gala had been canceled when New York was suffocated by the epidemic due to the coronavirus. That of this year, which is usually held on the first Monday in May, has been postponed to this Monday evening, before a 2022 edition scheduled for the beginning of May. Maybe with some 1,200 guests, like before the pandemic.
