TAG launches Guatemala-Mérida and Guatemala-Oaxaca routes

Guatemala, Gua. In the first quarter of 2022, TAG Airlines will begin operations on the Guatemala-Mérida route with four weekly frequencies and the Guatemala-Oaxaca and Guatemala-Tapachula routes, as Julio Gamero, CEO of the Guatemalan airline, commented.

Currently, TAG Airlines already has the Guatemala-Cancún and Cancún-Flores routes. “TAG Airlines is consolidated as the airline of the Mayan World, a region that has become a benchmark for travel and tourism at a global level, due to its cultural and archaeological wealth, its unique natural beauties, its gastronomy and, especially, the warmth of its people”, mentioned Gamero.

At 8 p.m. in the TAG Airlines hangar at La Aurora International Airport, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Adolfo Búcaro Flores, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei Falla, granted an official appointment that accredits it as an airline flag of the nation, as a recognition of more than 60 years of experience in favor of aviation, air connectivity, tourism promotion and the economic development of the country, as well as the region of the Mayan world.

Yesterday the image of a commemorative Saab 340 plane was presented that has the image of the emblematic quetzal, a sacred bird of the Mayan world considered the symbol of the country, of freedom and independence. The design was an original idea of the renowned artist Analucía Sian Quiroa and represents the majesty of the quetzal conquering the wind, flying free and soaring through the sky.

TAG Airlines is a one hundred percent Guatemalan company that since 1961 maintains a firm commitment to air connectivity and development. It currently operates 27 daily flights in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and Mexico, with a modern fleet of more than 20 aircraft.

Soon TAG Airlines will expand its fleet with four aircraft.
