The head of the municipal brigades of Girona He has been suspended from work and salary for six months and sentenced to compensate a worker with 900 euros for having attacked and threatened him. The events denounced would have occurred on June 17 of last year at the headquarters of the brigade, in the Mas Xirgu estate, and triggered the opening of files and trials. The conflict, according to those affected, began when one of them, a union representative, would have explained to his boss that they had problems covering a shift because there was a person on leave and with the approval of a decree by the City Council they could not self-manage. The head of the brigades reportedly replied that there was a list of people to solve the case.

When the worker would have insisted that this list did not exist, the conversation would have increased in tone and, according to the affected person’s statement, he was pushed out of the office by his boss and began to demand that he shut up. «I will not shut up and neither you nor my father will shut me up», replied the worker. The boss would have responded by “punching” the worker inside the warehouse, in front of the office door and in front of five co-workers. He would also have yelled at him: “come out, I’ll kill you” and “come out, you son of a bitch, I’ll kill you”, several times. According to the file, the beaten worker stated that he saw the attacker “out of his mind” and that he “literally had his eyes rolled back in his head.” The punches were aimed at the face but when dodging them they ended up in the chest. He also suffered scratches and bruises on his collarbone that ended up causing him to be out for 18 days. The companions would have tried to stop the aggression by getting between them. Later, the head of the brigades would have beaten the worker again butting him with his head. As he ran, he would have “dropped” a second worker who broke his wrist. With the blow, the first worker explains in his statement that he ended up stamped against a van, which ended up dented, after being pushed about two meters.

Compensation

The first of the workers went to the municipal police on June 17 and filed a complaint with the courts. The judge sentenced, on June 23, the head of the brigades for a minor crime of injuries, forcing him to pay 900 euros as compensation. The convict filed an appeal, but on November 9 the petition was dismissed and the sentence was upheld. The sentence mentions a medical report from the CAP where it is explained that the worker had scratches on his back and arms, pain and red areas on a clavicle and a shoulder blade. A second report of a mutual adds a dorsal paravertebral contracture.
