Survivor 42 Recap: Do or Die Twist Returns – Whose fate in the game was determined entirely by chance?

Maybe this season Survivor should have been named ghost island 2.

On Wednesday’s episode, another twist from last season appeared, as Jeff announced that whoever chooses to compete in this week’s immunity challenge will possibly face the consequences of the Do or Die twist. While the thought of exiting the game by luck of the draw scared most players away from competing, two (and only two) decided to take fate into their own hands. Who played and who followed in the footsteps of Deshawn from Season 41? More on that later.

The episode was filled with shifting goals and major trust issues, and despite multiple perks being removed from the game, another idol was activated in his wake. It was a wild tribal council, so let’s cut to the chase and recap “Battle Royale.”

Mike is delighted that Hai is gone bye-bye. After commenting on the sound Hai’s decapitated head makes (wow, that’s dark, dude), Mike takes credit for orchestrating the entire blindside. (Don’t worry, Omar. We see you). While Mike may be raving as hell, I guess we’ll let him celebrate for a bit.

After Maryanne shares that she loses the nail on her little finger two or three times a year (OK… than?!), she and Romeo speculate that the big threats are going to follow each other. The other five seem to agree to bond, but it turns out to be a ploy to make Drea comfortable so they can kick her out. Omar says that Mike is becoming the new Hai and doing the exact same things Hai was just rejected for. Will Mike’s arrogance lead to his downfall or should Drea feel in danger?

Jonathan feels good about his game, but his hunger is getting to him, causing him to take a stand with Drea. As a (self-proclaimed) provider, he feels that he does enough for the tribe and is not too pleased when Drea asks him to help untangle a fishing net. Lindsay and Drea notice that he is starting to fall apart. Lindsay especially cares about how he talks to her, constantly dictating what to do and telling her that she is wrong.

Survivor Recap Episode 11IMMUNITY IS AVAILABLE AGAIN | For the challenge, players must stand in a narrow position holding a barbell behind their head. Just like last season, the first person to drop the challenge must play a “dangerous” game of chance in Tribal. (Deshawn was forced to play the game last time, and won safety as a result. Will anyone else have the same luck tonight?) Prosbt asks about their decisions, and Jonathan and Lindsay are the only players who choose to compete. .

Just 10 minutes later, both challengers seem to be hurting badly, but Lindsay goes down first, giving Jonathan immunity and putting his fate in the hands of the mighty. Survivor Gods.

TO CAMP | Lindsay knows she gambled a million dollars and already regrets letting her competitive spirit take over. But she’s proud of herself for fighting, despite the crushing blow that her game might as well be over.

Drea knows that if Lindsay goes home, her amulet becomes an idol. But everyone else knows that if Drea makes it to Final 3, she will definitely win the game. Drea’s instinct kicks in, and even though people keep telling her they’re voting for Romeo, she doesn’t trust them…especially Mike. And she plans to use her Knowledge Is Power advantage to steal the idol from her. She then hires Omar to help her get Mike out, someone she also wanted to cut out. It seems like the perfect time to shoot the retired firefighter… but it will all come down to Lindsay and the Do or Die twist.

Survivor Recap Episode 11TRIBAL COUNCIL | Lindsay tells Jeff that she made a bad decision choosing to play, but Mike tells her that it was “a warrior thing” and that he respects her. Omar says that paranoia is running high on her, while Drea tells Jeff and the group that she has been watching them. She has been watching who has been talking and who has been hanging out at the watering hole. She may be digging a grave for herself here, if there is a vote tonight.

Jeff pulls out the three Do or Die boxes and explains that Lindsay needs to choose the box with the flame to survive the night. If he draws a skull, he’s out and joins the jury. She chooses the second box. Jeff opens one of the other boxes It’s a skull. He then offers her the option to trade, but she follows her instinct. Jeff opens his box and it’s a llama! She is still in the game and wins the security of the vote.

Drea takes advantage of Knowledge Is Power and reads the rules to everyone. She asks Mike if she has an idol, but she doesn’t! We then see through a flashback that Omar told him about Drea’s plan, so Mike got rid of her idol and let Omar cling to him. With that, it’s time to vote, and when Jeff reads the results, the ax falls on Drea.

On their way out, Drea tells Lindsay that she’s rooting for her. She tells Jonathan that he was never on her radar. She tells Mike that if she goes all the way, she’ll probably win. (Which possibly paints a target on her back, but she smiles when she finds out that she placed two votes on her behalf.) She also tells everyone that Omar was the only person to whom he told that secret. It’s a vote like no other, filled with respect and appreciation for the game. And Jeff even lets her say her final harsh words: “The tribe has spoken.”

Now is your turn! Any thoughts on the return of the Do or Die twist? Was Drea your choice to win it all? Let us know by leaving some comments!
