Sun worshipers head to the beach to enjoy summer-like weather

Anyone wanting proof just had to head to Woodbine Beach on Sunday.

By 11 am, parking lots were overflowing, leaving many motorists patiently waiting in lines for anyone to leave so they could grab a spot — all while parking enforcement officers circled the area.

Throngs of maskless sun worshipers lugged quick-release tents, umbrellas and water coolers as they searched for spots along the beach. In contrast, others filled the volleyball courts or took to the water, lining the landscape with sailboats.

People came from all over, including a recent newcomer to Canada.

“In Jordan, there are more and more sandstorms. The country is 75% desert. This causes mild headaches and dehydration, so this type of weather is heaven,” said Nadia Suleiman.

Environment Canada reported temperatures reached as high as 25.1C in Point Pelee. The high at Pearson International Airport was about 24C.
