Subsidy for electricity in Peru would be for all residential users

The Vice Minister of Energy of Peru, Martín Dávila Pérez, affirmed that it will be all residential users who would benefit from economic support in the electricity bill if the bill proposed by the Executive for a new subsidy is approved in parliament, this time in the cost of electricity, in favor of families that consume below 140 kWh / month.

The official explained that families that consume above that margin would receive a 1% subsidy while those that consume below will receive a subsidy that ranges from 5%, 10% and 15% depending on the degree of vulnerability.

“No residential user is going to pay an additional amount (on his electricity bill if the proposal is approved in parliament). All users will be discounted, depending on their consumption and their economic level. All those who exceed S / 90 ($ 22) per month will be discounted 1% and then gradually according to their situation of vulnerability, “he explained.

“No residential customer is going to pay more. There is an error of interpretation. What is being done is that free customers who now pay a much lower cost than the customer of the winery or the rural area (which is the regulated one) pay 3% more to subsidize. Free customers that handle 60% of the total volume of energy in Peru would be those who pay this subsidy, “he said.

When asked about what the proposal specifically says that families with consumption above 140 kWh / month and free customers will be the ones who pay the new subsidy, the vice minister guaranteed that the cost of the residential customers.
