Dundurn Market to open new ‘local food hub’ at former Mustard Seed location in Hamilton

In a social media post, co-founder Justin Abbiss and members of the Dundurn team revealed the launch during the 8 a.m. months after the Mustard Seed founders approached them with a plan to save the food market.

“We took a look at it and it actually fits quite well with what we are doing, and particularly with our home delivery program which is really quite busy,” Abbiss told Global News in an interview in October.

Dundurn Market serves between 200 and 400 people each week, and Abbiss said the operation has been encroaching on real market space at the Dundurn location.

The new center will continue the tradition of offering locally sourced produce that Mustard Seed used to provide.

“We already work with many of the same suppliers and the best thing about this is that we will be able to work with two or three times as many suppliers because we will simply have that additional space that we do not have in Dundurn Market or Ottawa Market.”

Abbiss and company also manage the Ottawa market on the eastern edge of the city.

The opening hours of the new Strathcona Market next weekend will be Saturday 8 a.m. M. A 7 p. M. And on Sunday from 8 a. M. At 6 p. M.
