MARKET REVIEW. The New York Stock Exchange opened lower, despite a rebound in US retail sales in August.
For its part, the main index of the Toronto Stock Exchange posted negative returns, partly justified by the 3.9% drop in the base metals sector.

the S & P / TSX of Toronto was down 98.82 points, or 0.48%, to 20,594.97 points.
In New York, the S&P 500 was down 16.75 points, or 0.37%, to 44,463.95 points.
the Nasdaq decreased by 85.56 points or 0.56% to 15,075.97 points.
the Dow jones lost 93.80 points, or 0.27% to 34,720.59 points.
the loonie was down 0.30% to 0.7897 US dollar (US $).
the oil decreased by US $ 0.89, or 1.23%, to US $ 71.72.
THE’gold fell from US $ 42.90, or 2.39% to US $ 1,751.90.
