Spruce Grove man charged with first-degree murder in Parkland County homicide

Alberta RCMP have charged a man with first-degree murder in relation to a man found dead in an abandoned vehicle in Parkland County last week.

Parkland RCMP received a complaint of a possible homicide in the area on April 28. Mounties said with the assistance of the Edmonton Police Service’s Air One, they located the abandoned vehicle south of Township 505 and Range Road 275, where officers found a 45-year -old Leduc man dead inside.

The Alberta RCMP major crimes unit took over the investigation which led to Stavon Maurice Allen, 38, of Spruce Grove, being charged with first-degree murder, Mounties said.

On Sunday, the RCMP said Allen had been arrested without incident. The arrest was made with help from the EPS tactical and K9 Units.

Allen’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Stony Plain provincial court.
