Special weather statement warns of strong winds for the Waterloo region

WATERLOO –

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning Monday of strong winds for the Waterloo region and surrounding areas.

The statement covers the region, Guelph, and all of Wellington County.

The national meteorological agency warns that winds could reach up to 70-80 km / h, starting Monday afternoon and lasting into the night.

It is due to a cold front moving through southern Ontario today, bringing strong winds from the west.

Officials warn that strong gusts of wind can throw loose objects, damage weak buildings and break tree branches.

Environment Canada says residents should continue to monitor weather alerts.
