Snow forecast on British Columbia’s inland roads for Thanksgiving weekend

Drivers planning to travel inside BC over the Thanksgiving long weekend should watch out for snow.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather statement for inland British Columbia, the Fraser Canyon, and the Fraser Valley on Saturday, warning of snow falling on most southern highway crossings, including the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt; the Trans-Canada Highway between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass; the Okanagan connector between Merritt and Kelowna; and Highway 3 between Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass.

The weather agency said rainfall from the moving frontal system will start as rain on Saturday afternoon before turning to snow on Sunday morning. Snow is expected to continue to fall for the remainder of Sunday, with up to 15cm expected.
